Kanji Kokuin (弧空院 千滋) is one of the characters from Power Instinct Matrimelee in the Power Instinct series, having been a prominent character since the second game.

Kanji knew about the Matrimelee tournament through Kinta, who also told him that many of their relatives were invited to it. Surprised for not receiving an invitation, Kanji investigated the tournament and found that the prize for the winner was to earn the hand of a young princess. Kanji wanted a bride and as the date for the tournament was approaching and he still wasn't invited, he stole the invitation from another fighter.

Kanji has a lecherous personality, and seems to really like girls who wear pretty dresses. Underneath this, though, he just wants to enjoy life happily and is a good person. He sees Saizo Hattori as a son and is friends with his father.

Kanji uses some dirty and stinky techniques to achieve his plans. In previous games in the series, he would transform into a huge and muscular man to battle his opponents.
