[edit] Story

[edit] Art of Fighting

When Mr. Big was ruling Southtown, he tried to make Takuma Sakazaki, the master of the legendary Kyokugenryu Karate join him, but Takuma declined. So, Big kidnapped Yuri Sakazaki, Takuma's daughter to force him to work under him. Takuma agreed and took the guise of Mr. Karate, wearing a Tengu mask to cover his face. Ryo Sakazaki and Robert Garcia defeated Mr. Big, but Takuma didn't see that and faced his son, Ryo. Ryo defeated Mr. Karate and was about to kill him, but Yuri appeared revealing her father's identity to Ryo.

[edit] The King of Fighters

Mr. Karate was later used in The King of Fighters series as comical relief. He appeared in some of the Art of Fighting Team endings claiming that he is the true master of Kyokugenryu Karate and that Ryo, Robert and Yuri have much to learn. When they tell Takuma to take off the mask, he replies he is not Takuma Sakazaki and does not know him. He eventually takes off the mask, revealing to them what they already knew.

[edit] SVC Chaos

His appearance in SVC Chaos: SNK vs. Capcom is probably an amalgam of the two versions. His normal form is still used for comic relief, but he also has a form called Honki ni Natta Mr. Karate which is more serious an akin to his original appearance. Mr. Karate is used as a counterpart to Akuma, and Honki ni Natta Mr. Karate a counterpart to Shin Akuma.

[edit] Personality

While in the Art of Fighting series, Mr. Karate was a serious fighter who did what he did for his family, but recently he is shown as a superhero role model for future karate apprentice and teach the right way as a honorable fighter.
